In this video I explain what a statute of limitations is generally.  A statute of limitations is a statute that limits the time within which you can bring a lawsuit against the defendant.  In our society when someone has been wronged they can sue.  'But you can't wait forever to do so.  The policy behind the rule is that at some point in time, the defendant should be allowed to know that they can rest assured that you can no longer bring a claim.

There are particular statutes of limitations for different types of claim.  Each rigth to bring a claim has its own statute of limitations.  You must check for each claim.  The laws vary from state of state.

If you don't bring you claim within the time to bring your claim, or before the statute of limitations expires then you lose your right to sue forever.
