In our office we represent people who have suffered serious back injuries.  Each injury in unique.

What happens when someone suffers a serious back injury from an accident, and they just can't get better?  They have tried rest, medications, chiropractic, steroid injections, physical therapy, and even surgery.  They still can get relief from pain?

For example, a worker from New London, Connecticut is working a union picket line in Middletown, Connecticut, and is hit by a truck trying to break through the picket line.  Strange, right?  This type of injury happens.  The workers suffers a serious back injury.  After years of care, he can't get relief.

A spinal cord stimulator is a small device that is implanced into the back near the spinal cord.  The device creates pulse electrical signals that disrupt pain patterns in the spinal cord.  The device is controlled by a battery.  The device is used to help control chronic pain.  It is a type of electrical nerve stimulation.

The cost for such a device is very expensive, and it can cost as much as $50,000.00 to put in.  Then the annual medical costs can be as high as $7,000.00 or more depending upon how many complications come up.

Obviously, this type of procedure is a last resort to help control bad chronic pain.  When the batter runs out, a new one need to be put in.
