Under the Connecticut Family & Medical Leave Act you can take up to 16 weeks of unpaid leave.  The catch, of couse, is your employer must have 75 or more employees in order for the act to apply.  It only applies to large employers with 75 or more employees.  If your company has less than 75 employees but at least 50 then the federal Family & Medical Leave Act will apply which allows for 12 weeks of unpaid leave.  For employers with less than 50 employees there is no required medical leave, and you will have to rely on other leave benefits such as sick leave or vacation leave.

If you or anyone you know have been discharged or otherwise retaliated against because you took medical leave in New London Connecticut, contact Family and Medical Leave lawyers at The Bartinik Law Firm, PC., 100 Fort Hill Road, Groton, Connecticut at 860 445 8521 or toll free at 888 717 4211.
