Why do we settle for mass recalls?

While there is no doubt that General Motors is guilty of fraud on its customers by intentionally concealing defects in its ignition switches, there is also no doubt that the government can't protect us from those who chose to commit intentional fraud.

We need to increase funding to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration so they can do their job.

But we must also recognize that the true protector of the consumer is the civil justice system that holds people and companies accountable for their conduct, and the harm that they cause.  The laws that protect consumers in Connecticut from defective products are Product Liability laws that hold the makers of defective products strictly liable for the harm that they cause.  I you are injured by a defective product you have the right to bring a lawsuit in the Connecticut state Court seeking compensation for your harms and losses.

If you have any questions about a product liability lawsuit contact The Bartinik Law Firm, P.C., 100 Fort Hill Road, Groton, Connecticut at 860-445-8521 or toll free at 88-717-4211.
