There is bill pending in Hartford that you further penalize distracted driving.  The bill, if passed, would require you to report your tickets for distracted drving to your car insurance company.  Once reported, your insurance company will likely increase your insurance rates.  Distracted driving includes taking on the phone or texting while driving.  It has been reported that distracted driving causes more deaths on the road than drunk driving.  In Southeastern Connecticut many people commute to work in their car.  We don't have mass transportation.  U.S. Route 1 and U.S. Route 95 pass through towns such as Old Lyme, East Lyme, Waterford, New London, Groton, and Stonington, and provide many opportunities to talk over the phone while driving.  This posses a hazard to the public, and is against the law.  Now, if this bill passes, not only will distracted drivers get a fine, they will also receive higher insurance rates.

If you or anyone you know is a victim of a serious car or truck accident from a distracted driver in Southeastern Connecticut we invite you to contact our Southern Connecticut car accident lawyers at the Groton, Connecticut law office of The Bartinik Law Firm, 100 Fort Hill Road, Groton, Connecticut, 860 445 8521 or toll free at 888 717 4211.
