Nobody is above the law.
Sunday morning, just after midnight, an Connecticut police officer was arrested for drunken driving, child endangerment, speeding, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and possession of an open container of alcohol while driving on the Massachusetts Turnpike.
There are a couple things for you to take away from this article.
1. It doesn’t matter who you are, you drink and drive, you can be arrested.
2. If you’re arrested over the weekend and have charges similar charges as above; you will be held by the police until Monday morning to appear in front of a judge.
3. A first offence for operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs is a misdemeanor in the state of Connecticut; however, doing so with a minor in the vehicle will land you a Risk of Injury charge, a felony in Connecticut.
4. The expected attorneys’ fees for Officer Thomas Chagnon will far exceed the cost of alternate transportation, such as a taxi.
If you are arrested for a DUI, it is important to hire an experienced lawyer to be on your side.
